Beauty ... the new slimline Juliet

My new fantasy figure

WHEN Juliet Moran burst out of the size 20 medieval bodice she was wearing for a Dungeons & Dragons game, she vowed to slim.

She was 15st 1lb and a massive 38FF-34-44.

Two years later, Juliet, who organises fantasy role playing events as a hobby, has lost 6st 2lb.

She is just 8st 13lb and a sexy 34B-26-36.

Juliet, 26, was podgy as a child and got her first diet sheet at 12. She says:

“Mum thought I had asthma because I was breathless all the time.

“The doctor weighed me and the scales registered 12st. Then, he said ‘Oh, it’s not asthma — you’re just fat’. I was so upset.”

On a low-calorie diet she lost 2st in two years and she no longer had any breathing problems.

Juliet stayed slim until her final year at university when her weight rose to 12½st.

She went on to do a degree in computing and became interested in “live role playing”.

It was at a medieval do that she met her fiancé Paul Wilder, 36. They plan to get married in September.

Juliet says: “He was a skinny stick, dressed as a wizard. I was a comely, 13½st wench spilling out of my size 20 costume — we were an instant hit.”

After taking their degrees Juliet and Paul moved into a flat together in Newcastle-under-Lyme, Staffs.

They ate lots of sandwiches and fast food and she got bigger.

Big party girl ... Juliet when she was 15st

Juliet says: “I usually had toast and jam for breakfast, sandwiches for lunch then eat four or five slices of bread while cooking burgers or fish fingers and a pile of chips.

“I knew I was huge because even size 22 clothes wouldn’t fit me.”

Then when she was leaving work one night in May 2001, two colleagues mentioned they were going to Weight Watchers — Juliet tagged along and joined up.

Under a diet which operates on a points system to “spend” on different foods she cooked interesting but low-fat meals.

She says: “It was a revelation. Like many busy people my age, I’d never got around to learning to cook.

“For the first time, I had to plan and dish up healthy meals. When I started, my points allowance was a generous 24, so I could eat a lot. It’s now 20.”

She starts the day with cornflakes and low-fat milk and for lunch has a sandwich and an apple or banana.

Supper is chicken or turkey with stir-fried vegetables, often with a low-fat cook-in sauce, plus noodles or rice and a salad.

Juliet lost weight at the rate of about 2lb a week. “It wasn’t dramatic but I was thrilled,” she says.

By Christmas 2001 she was down to size 16 and 12½st and by the last festive season she weighed 9st 1lb and wore her first size 10 ball gown at a New Year party that had a James Bond theme.

She says: “All the girls looked beautiful and the guys were in tuxedos. I felt like a real Bond girl in my long blue frock.”

The couple are now planning their church wedding with a reception for 100 guests.

“I have bought my dress, so I can’t gain weight,” says Juliet, a technical director with an IT company.

“Paul and I are having fun looking through travel brochures for the most romantic honeymoon destination.”

Meanwhile, she is thrilled with her new body — and so is Paul.

“He can’t take his hands off me,” she says.

Juliet's TIPS for a top bod

    1. If people say you are putting on weight, listen. My mum, who is a lifetime Weight Watchers member, was always telling me to slim but I was too stubborn to see sense.

    2. Preparing a healthy dish takes no longer than cooking junk food. It takes longer to open a packet than to chop veggies for a stir-fry.

    3. Tell your pals about your diet – they’ll help you stick to it.

    4. Swop clothes such as glamour tops and accessories with your mates – you will save a small fortune.

    5. When you reach your goal weight, keep looking at your slim reflection in mirrors. It gives me a big smile, even when I’m in my pyjamas.
